Flying South for the Winter

Warmer Climes

Barrels, Fenceposts and Agave

Acrylic on Canvas

If you have been following my blog for a year or so, you know my subject matter changes with the change in seasons.

Family of Five
24" x 8"
Acrylic on Canvas

During the winter months I visit the desert and am inspired by the sculptural beauty of desert plants.

However it takes time to pack, make the move, and set up a new studio area, which has not quite happened, the studio set up that is.

Seven Barrels
10" x 30"
Acrylic on Canvas

Then I must wander through desert gardens, visually absorbing what grows, begin sketching and allow what I see to be processed by my creative spirit.  Only then do I take up the brushes and begin a new canvas, well the studio needs to be set up too.

Check back to see what happens with this process.

  1. These cacti (?) are great and I especially like the tall 'family of five'. I wish I could roam out into the desert :-)
Did you eat the gingerbread house?
