Winter Wall

My Winter Gallery Wall

With the change of the seasons I change what I hang on my entry hall wall.  This is a look at the current display.
All painted in a cool palette, well except for the red, but that is just a bit of seasonal spice.

Happy Holidays

A Different Type of Creating

Though I am in my studio every day, this time of year most of what I am doing must remain a secret, to be revealed as Hostess Gifts, or on  Christmas Day.

What I can show you is some of the other creativity that takes place around here.

A good friend (I have know her for over 40 years!) invites her friends in to construct gingerbread houses.  She has been doing this for over 30 years, and either makes them herself or helps others make the houses.  She creates about 75 houses each year!  Talk about a gift!

When you arrive, all the necessary 'stuff' is there from the gingerbread walls and roofs to the candy to the decorative items.

She is a whiz with the pastry bag, pipping the snow and ice. With minimal instructions she oversees your efforts.

And before you know it, you have a beautifully sweet, holiday centerpiece.

This year I was lucky enough to be invited over with two other friends and as we stuck on Cookies, Candies, Santas, Snowmen, Trees, Packages and other goodies we laughed and loved.  Thank you Linda.

May you and yours laugh and love your way through the next week.

New Painting

There's so much humanity in the love of trees,

painting progress

So much nostalgia for our first sense of wonder,

painting progress

so much power in just feeling our own insignificance when we are surrounded by nature....

Indifferent Majesty
48" x 30"
2500.

...just thinking about trees and their indifferent majesty and our love for them teaches us how ridiculous we are and at the same time how deserving of life we can be, when we can honor this beauty that owes us nothing.

Winter Aspen Trees

It's winter, right?  So when my galleries ask for winter inspired paintings I focus on my palette as well as the subject matter.

And I am still working at the jewelry table with pearls and more:
